Songs of Earth

Norway is a country full of breathtaking natural beauty, but amid all that beauty, the 20-kilometre-long Oldedalen Valley occupies a special place. With its river, mountains, waterfalls, glaciers and deciduous forests, the valley is considered by many to be the most beautiful in the country. Director Margreth Olin returns to this valley, her birthplace, to capture it in enchanting images. She pays tribute not only to the landscape, but also to her now 84-year-old father Jørgen Mykle, who knows the valley like no other. As a child, she took long walks with her father and even now he is the guide who leads her through the valley for a year. He tells her about his ancestors, what life was like there and the capriciousness of nature.

Composer Rebekka Karijord wrote the score, inspired by the sounds of nature, performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra, Liv Ullmann and Wim Wenders are executive producers.
